After a busy Wednesday meeting with Mexican federal policymakers in the halls of Congress, CLEAP participants returned in the conference room on Thursday to debrief on the Mexican political system and learn how to tap into the tools they’ll use to further their leadership development. The productive week was capped off on Friday with an opportunity to visit cultural sites and learn more about the history of Mexico.
Thursday-Friday, April 10-11 recap:
Education, advocacy, and community leadership are key components of our Civic Leader Education and Advocacy Program. On Thursday, participants engaged in education sessions on Mexico's political system with UNAM Professor Gustavo Zuniga and immigrant representation with Marco Cruz with Fuerza Migrante. Participants also engaged in their final leadership workshop, reflecting on how this program has helped them grow as leaders and in their roles back in Colorado.
On Friday, group members took advantage of the opportunity to visit museums and other cultural sites of Mexico City to further immerse themselves in the nation’s rich history before heading home to contemplate the successful week’s experience.
