Meet Angelina S. Sandoval

Voces Unidas is pleased to welcome Angelina Sierra-Sandoval as Vice President of Policy, Advocacy and Organizing.

Angelina brings more than 10 years of professional experience overseeing policy and advocacy priorities in the nonprofit and government sectors. Most recently, Angelina was the Director of Government Affairs for the Colorado League of Charter Schools, where she served as in-house lobbyist and led a team of regional advocacy staff. Angelina also spent three years as Intergovernmental Affairs Manager for Denver Public Schools, where she oversaw legislative affairs for the largest school district in the state.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Angelina’s extensive background step in and help us expand capacity in our core work of policy, advocacy and organizing,” said Voces Unidas CEO Alex Sánchez .“Her experience as a lobbyist and knowledge of government affairs will undoubtedly move Voces Unidas forward as an advocacy organization driving positive change for Latinas and Latinos in Colorado’s rural mountain communities.“

In her new role, Angelina will be responsible for directing the organization’s policy priorities to advance equity and bring racial, social and economic justice to rural Latinas and Latinos in the central-mountain region of Colorado. She will oversee our local organizing efforts and manage our work in the Capitol in Denver.

“I am excited to join the team at Voces Unidas to continue to grow the power and influence of rural Latinas and Latinos,” Sierra-Sandoval said. “My family and I have been living part-time in Leadville for the last 13 years, so Voces Unidas’ mission is personal to us. I look forward to partnering with the team to support our local and regional work to advance public policies that will address our unique needs in rural Colorado.”

A fifth-generation Coloradan, Angelina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Pre-Law and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration & Local Government from the University of Colorado-Denver.

Outside of work, Angelina enjoys making memories with her husband and two children, especially in their home in Leadville.
